About Sydney Sabre Academy

Sydney Sabre Academy first opened in 2020 under Tony Watts; supported by Founder of Sydney Sabre, John Chow.

He has a long and storied career in sabre fencing spanning over 40 years, having represented NSW and Australia at every level of national and international competition.

Following years building a community in Revesby around Sabre, Gerard would later join as a graduate of Sydney Sabre and provide lessons for the students of Sydney Sabre Academy.

Since then, Gerard has taken over on the management of the club and operates the usual class and lesson schedule.

John Chow

John started teaching sabre in 2009 (opening Sydney Sabre in 2011) and takes an old-school scientific approach to sabre training. He continues to fence - occasionally to World Cup level - to test his theories on himself.
